Elmers End high street surrounds a large green that acts as a busy junction for most of the area's roads into Croydon, Beckenham or London. The parade provides a busy collection of pubs, convenience shops and fast food outlets.
Flats and modern purpose built apartment blocks can be found close by to both the railway station and large Tesco's supermarket on the west side of the busy Croydon Lane. Housing on the surrounding streets is predominantly post 1930's semis and terraces, although these become larger as you move closer to Beckenham and its leafy, tree lined Victorian roads.
